The Universe and its Protection
In all the cultures through the history of the human being, gods have been present at different forms and with different names. These gods have been worshiped to protect food, bodies and souls. The necessity to have something to believe in has been always a worry of the men no matter when or where they live.
According to different beliefs, it is necessary to recognize the importance of nature. The chamanes and machis in our culture for example, get the power to know what is going to happen smoking different herbs; and when people are ill, they use to collect some specific plants and cure people.
The universe is a force which has its own power. Nothing occurs just because it has to. According to the laws of the universe, everything happens because of a reason. So, nothing is at random. This wonderful universe gives you the opportunity to believe in somebody or something and provides you the power of plants, flowers and rocks to be healthy. Also, it gives you the possibility to change your point of view in relation to yourself and those who are with you.
Every day is a new opportunity to be happy and take the best of you to enjoy life. This universe provides you all the necessary to live in peace with yourself because you are never alone.
Violeta and her messages
Among the best Chilean compositors and folklore related music it is impossible to ignore Violeta Parra. She has been recognized as one of the best folklorist in our country. Her songs are not only related to love stories, most of them are based on social problems ,too.
Her song “ Arauco Tiene una Pena” is an ethnic problem that has been present for centuries until now. This sad song has the feelings of sadness and helplessness in which one of the most important native group of people have been living since the Spaniards arrived and destroyed not only their culture and religion, but also their territory. No government has had the solutions to their demands . On the contrary, violence has been increasing and a sort of war between Araucanos and the new owners of the lands has been present when they claim by their rights.
We must recognize that Arauco has sorrow until now because politicians know the problem but they have not taken time enough to give them answers and protection.
It is interesting to know how a lot of movements of animal protection work for their preservation, and at the same time, it is ironic to see how our ancestral native root is dying and no one does anything to protect it.
A successful Year
Last year can be defined like a good year for me. If I summarize my successes and my failures I think that I got a lot of goals which were important for me as person and as a student, because I could make a lot of projects which were important for my career and I could get a lot of experiences, too.
In spite of the facts that to be a student of Visual Communication in this university is not as easy as common people could think, we must spend a lot of time to produce our films and to study for the different classes. Also, we have to be creative and full of ideas and energy to record our films.
According to my experience, I think that the clue is the right distribution of time because it is necessary to have free time to enjoy life, too. So, in order to be punctual and responsible with your classmates, you have to be an organized one.
I did not have too much time to go to parties or home, but I could work in two great films which took me a lot of time including my summer and winter holidays. But the reward was great, I got a lot of knowledge and I could participate in the production of the films. On the other hand, I worked as an assistant sending some documental films to different festivals . For example : “ Breathing” was a short documental which has been shown in different places until now.
Finally, I think that last year I was very busy and tired but I really enjoyed all my activities and got good results. If you want to know how I feel in relation to last year, the answer is going to be: GREAT!
English Language Challenges
English is an important tool which is necessary to share experiences with different people who do not speak Spanish. So, the idea is to communicate our thoughts and experiences with others, as well as to know about new technological instruments that are available to be used by us.
The different abilities that we have to develop, interact in our unconsciousness and we are able to speak, listen and understand the ideas to start a conversation, and of course, read articles and get the messages about them.
There are lots of opportunities to travel abroad to get a specialization in different areas related to how to improve our techniques in recording, editing, coloring or screenplay, among others. These courses are given by people from different countries, and the audience must understand the main ideas. So, if we have the chance to continue our academic studies abroad we must be able to communicate ourselves, too.
Also, English is a door that gives you different alternatives of jobs. Most important film maker industries belong to English speaking countries. If you have the chance to belong to one of them, English is going to be necessary.
On the other hand, if you want to show your movies in different film festivals, those that take place abroad need the script in English, or if you want to send your film to contests, written English is going to be necessary, too.
According to technology, it is well known that it changes every day and it is very important to be update. Due to that, it is important to be a good reader. Just to use new machines that has the explanations in English.
English is the opened door of opportunities. You can work or study abroad. Also, you are going to have the chance to go to any speaking country and be successful.
It is important to remember that English is a living language that must be practiced.
The Best Holidays I've Had
My trip to Torres del Paine and The Chilean Patagonia.
Three years ago, I had the possibility to travel to the south of Chile, a place where I had never dreamt to go. I think that it has been the best experience of my life until now.
My friends scouts and me took a plane in Santiago and arrived to Coyhaique. Here we stayed some hours waiting for a trip on a car ferry to cross a transporter bridge and our travel finished in Punta Arenas. At the same time, the adventure started here. There were so many beautiful landscapes here, places to visit and extreme sports to do.
We stayed in a camp with our tents, we had all the necessary to live under the water and snow. Also, our sticks for trekking! And of course bars of chocolate, lots of them because we were going to take a route that takes more than six hours walking a day and here it is really windy.
Canoing, trekking, visiting marvelous marble caves on a boat, the Milodon´s cave, Todos los Santos river and of course to be in Las Torres del Paine. The feeling to be in contact with the nature, in a place where nobody thinks in throwing or leaving anything in the place where they stay, gives you the sensation of a natural sanctuary. But the most exciting experience was the opportunity to get inside a cave with drops of frozen thousand-year-old water where we had to get through a small hole that was the entrance. This place is not visited by anybody because scientists are still studying these drops.
If you have the chance to take this trip, do not think too much about the cost, just take it! And of course do not forget your camera to be proud to share the pictures of one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Reaction of Helplessness
Less of culture and education seems to be the clue to get success in certain means of communication. The government took out civics as part of the educational plans and programs. So, most of the citizens in our country do not know their civic rights Among lots of social problems and strikes in which workers ask for their rights, newspapers and news on T.V. show the new football national or international matches, life of football players and life of politicians. These themes take the main pages or the longer time on the screen. The publicity incomes are, of course, a success. And the social problem takes a secondary place for a moment.
Lack of work, poor salaries, and answers to people demands wait somewhere. People demands are sleeping in a government which recognizes the problems but there are no solutions to workers´ demands. Helplessness remains inside people who are waiting for a moment to show it .
It seems to be easy to take people attention towards ideas of fantasy, but the reality is completely different. It is so common to see after a match how people show their violence and unhappiness when they destroy not only a stadium, but also public areas or stores that belong to people who work hard to feed their families. It is not a problem about the loser and the winners because the reaction is going to be the same.
Nowadays we know what is going to occur after an important match or a strike. Everybody knows that violence is coming. So, the well known premise:” When the human being loses his capacity of astonishment the society is in crisis” takes place.
Alternative Medine
Nowadays people are looking for different sort of solutions to help themselves to discover the psychological problems or reasons that make them feel sick.
In spite of the fact that there are all sort of scientists that work to discover the beginning of illnesses through investigation, people are looking inside themselves what problems make their physical body to suffer.
Alternative medicine and theraphy seem to be the solution to take care of the boby without any sort of chemical contamination. Because it is well known by everybody, that certain drugs cure an ilness but they always have secondary effects. It is a circle of illnesses in which people solve a problem but usually, a new one is coming due to their secondary effects.
Also, it is well known by everybody that all the cultures have had their own way to cure their population. So, it is not new to share their medicine in different parts of the world. German people have using homeopathy since a long time ago, and the Chinese culture has shared methods of acupuncture.
Our ancient aborigenes have certain sorts of doctors called “machis” and “chamanes” who use herbs and different treated waters mixed with flowers and leaves to cure themselves.

The enviromental pollution
The environmental pollution is a problem about which there hasn´t been real governmental rules to try to solve the problem. Until now, lots of small solution have been published . The three Rs : recycle, reduce and reuse is the most popular one.
People, who are conscious about it, classify their rubbish in different bins which are collected in different days according to the area where they live.
In relation to me, in my department we collect paper, glass, cans and plastic during some weeks, and when we have got a considerable amount of them we put them in different containers that are in our building.
I´m conscious that it isn´t enough, and also that the environmental problem is enormous. It involves pollution in different natural areas. I mean rivers, soil, air and the ocean which involve our food and the different illnesses involved by them.
The different areas polluted in our country aren´t only the air and the noise pollution in Santiago. The solution given to ride bikes and take public means of transport is a way too simple to solve this serious problem.
In spite of the fact that Santiago is the most populated city in Chile, there are cities like Temuco and Rancagua where the quality of the air is not healthy.
But, what happens with the rivers where there are mines? What´s happening with our ocean where lots of living creatures die because of the ships or small boats which spread petrol in the water?
Who takes the control to the big amounts of small industries that spread their contaminants to the air and rivers?
Why there haven´t been given real rules to fire chimneys or stoves that use wood yet?
Government departments must give the rules to all the citizens of the country. But it seems that, if they teach the three Rs, talk about pollution and the TV shows different environmental problems and the solutions given for those particular cases, the problem seems to be solved.
According to my point of view, the three Rs and the poor solutions are not enough. There won´t be real environmental changes if the governmental policies don´t give clear rules to the citizens.
Bridge of Spies:
The last month, Steven Spielberg´s freed the trailer to his last movie “Bridge
of Spies”. This movie talk about to spy
in the cold war. Their histories and friendship, are challenge for the war,
violence and death. This thriller are
based on the Gary Powers U-2 spy plane crisis in 1960. And with this trailer,
the movie started the market circuit around the world.
The set of Bridge of spies, are US CIA
offices and Communist East Berlin. The star for this movie was Tom Hanks, the
winner of academy award. Hanks travel to Russia to negotiate for spies exchange.
Brigdge of spies arrived for the theatres
the next 16 October in the US, 6 November in the UK. And soon in Latin-American
